About Twitter

Originally, Twitter was supposed to be an SMS-based communication platform.

In the year 2006, co-founder Jack Dorsey came up with this brilliant and unique idea.

He presented his plan to the podcasting company Odeo’s co-founders – Evan Williams and Biz Stove.

They together decided to give Jack time to build and develop this project further.

Software developer Noah Glass came up with the original name twttr for the platform, which was later on changed to twitter.

The first tweet message was sent on March 21, 2006, at 0950pm.

A huge explosion of tweets happened on Twitter in the year 2007, at the time of the southwest interactive conference.

Being a new startup, Twitter also had its share of rough days.

The 140-word character limit was imposed because originally twitter was being launched as an SMS-based platform.

In August 2010, the feature of retweeting was added to the twitter platform.

In the year 2017, the character limit was increased to 280 words.

Twitter is a social media platform where everyone can create and share their ideas & information immediately, without any restrictions.

Twitter has a service called “Tweetdeck” which provides customers with the tools to customize and create a better Twitter experience.

Being a famous social media platform, Twitter is a great platform for marketing of brands. It helps brands to build brand awareness, engage audiences, helps in brand recognition and also improves the perception of a brand.

Twitter has an incredibly easy to use dashboard interface.

  • Today, Twitter has an average of approximately 350,000 tweets every single minute.
  • Chris Messina was behind the invention of hashtags in the year 2007.
  • The name of the bluebird on the Twitter logo is Larry. It was confirmed officially, only after the year 2012.
  • Twitter was launched in 2006 but it created zero dollars revenue in the first three years.
  • Ashton Kutcher was the first user to hit 1 million followers on Twitter.

  • 박철웅 says:

Congulations with greetings to Elon, Parag.
I’ve some troubles with chrome book.
Parag, can you offer the twitter app for the chrome o/s?

  • Mark says:

The Algorithms twitter uses does not comprehend context. Therefore has unfairly suspended my account. Instead of suspending an account immediately, would it not be better to suggest something like – ‘perhaps you might want to reword what you have written’ and if they don’t change the comment then suspend. In saying this my suspension is totally without cause – the tweet asked a question and my answer was relevant to a well know practice of the Government in question and how they dispose of people they don’t like by putting poison in those people’s drinks, the question was – what is xxx going to do in Belarus – my response in the relevant context above was drink poinsion. Meaning he is likely going to have poison put into his drink at some point soon by a government agent.
I request the suspension on my account be removed immediately.

  • Steven Mark Robinson-Worley says:

Sir Baron, Right Reverend, Steven Mark Robinson-Worley, President,
9812 Baltimore Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63114

    To: Chairman,

    Dear Sir,

Please fell free to do a thorough search through our Internationally used Ministry WEBSITE. And (ALSO) specifically the MEMORIUM of Reverend Earl Worley. For there you will find confirmations of his work across the Mid-East, thereby giving me first hand facts concerning background….
As stated in my appeal. As a former 2nd generation Police Officer/LE Chaplain/Ordained Christian Minister who was raised very frequently meeting both international friends of Dad’s, which continued throughout his life, until he passed in 2014; followed by my own experiences; what I tweeted was sadly factual……which was why I began the post with the word, ‘sadly’,. But be assured that what was posted was confirmed facts…… Everyone, everywhere across the globe need to be educated in warning’s so they themselves, never are put in any situation or circumstance where they are in physical danger. FURTHER(!) As you will note, as you search thru our ministry website; you will find 7 professionally made training videos on child protection. Due my Ministerial Training, which began at age 16, a portion of that training was in proper application of, and basic investigative tools, in CHILD PROTECTION MEASURES to be used in Religious Centers and Schools. In fact, the training program applied was the BASE CORE that was later applied in all California Public Schools! Sadly; In one occasion as an Ordained Minister, with my Wife, while Guest speaking in one Church, We uncovered an extensive case of child abuse. Of course, we had to Counsel/Advised the Parent of one of the children who’d suffered abuse, but also make a report.
But, noth as a Commissioned Officer as well, I had the responsibility to investigate a then (by me & later State Police) a case of Under-Age Sex Prostitution with under-aged teen girls by several Criminal Police Officers. In other circumstances, as an Ordinary Citizen & Ordained Minister/former COP, I uncovered both individual male Muslims & groups of, who were of stated or evidenced purpose of bringing harm to US citizens….
Thus…..My tweet was not meant as an attack; but strictly writing fact! No matter how sad the facts are, or, how it makes some uneducated in the facts; individuals feel…..at the moment. The OLD TESTAMENT PROVERB seems becoming more important for everyone today. Quoting; “MY PEOPLE ARE DESTROYED FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE.” Another states; “A WISE PERSON, SEEING DANGER, FLEES TO SAFETY! BUT THE FOOLISH PERSON PROCEEDS ANYWAY AND TAKES HIS BEATING”. That was the purpose for the tweet. The majority of active Muslims around the globe do not live by the letter of the QURON, anymore than Christians or Jews of all stripes attempt to follow the MOSAIC LAWS concerning SLAVE OWNERSHIP OR TREATMENT in today’s world thankfully. Nor, is the practice among Christians directly involving SLAVE OWNERSHIP any longer a part of Christian Culture, of which, the Roman Provincial Senator/Apostle Paul had to deal in various treatices. of the NEW TESTAMENT/COVENANT. While sadly, there are still those across the MUSLIM Faith, who have chosen to attempt to ‘use’ what was written in the QURON as a means to justify their criminal or terrorist actions. (&) THat was the purpose of my Tweet Warning for the uneducated. As a FORMER INVESTIGATIVE COP, who uncovered various multi-State Crime Rings, even on one Military Base…… I’d be curious to find out ‘WHO & WHAT SECRET ALIGNMENTS’ the person behind the complaining Account might be/have! I’d bet ~strictly speaking from my Law Enforcement past~ bet that/those individuals might have some ‘ties’ they’d not want investigated……. But, I’m no longer in Law Enforcement as a Commissioned Officer….. Oh, I just remembered; ELON was one of my Follower’s….HMMMM……

Right Reverend, Sir Baron, Steven Mark Robinson-Worley

  • Zheela Noori says:

Dear Jack and Parag, please ban Taliban accounts, why would you allow those creating terror and killing innocent people use your platforms? There are tons of Mullah/and Mofti accounts, you MUST ban Taliban from using social media to intimidate people, and create fears among innocent people. They are the extremists who fight the US, and you are an American entity, how come you would allow them to continue abusing the social media presence through Twitter and sending horrific messages, and intimidating, killing videos. Please have some decency and respect people of Afghanistan.

  • Shawn Bennett says:

Hi as a regular user I really want Twitter to ban Chinese officials using the site for CCP propaganda, Chinese citizens are unable to access the service from with in China and this seems wrong that their official can. It is wrong for a brutal authoritarian regime to use your service like this. I would go as far as Chinese media using your service as well.

  • Jay Meddler says:

Twitter issued a weapon , it is used to stop information from getting to the public, it should be banned world wide as it starts wars, politicians use it for weapons and attacking people thru wifi . I do not recommend this site . #fucktrudeau #BBB

My user account @BizSource was stolen March 2022. I never received an email from Twitter to verify the security violation of my account. Now, my personal website (www.BizSource.biz) Twitter icon goes to a Twitter page called c-Source who is using @BizSource. I’ve sent screen shots from 2012 showing my company, BizSource Marketing as the owner, as well as legal documentation of my Assumed Name Certificate and Twitter has not addressed the stolen user name. Why will Twitter not stand behind this security violation of theft???
