Hello Mr. John Hartmann, While being in Temple, Texas on assignment I was watching an episode of, Undercover Boss, I was drawn by your story as well as the way it ended. I would very much like the opportunity to come to Chicago to talk with you in person. You may get a glimpse of who I am on the home, bio and media pages of our website at: thecityoflifefoundation.org, Please look and read the information and let’s talk soon, okay? I would like for us to partner and also look at our sponsor/partner page. I could really use your support and help. The way the show ended, you are awesome, doing just what I would do and will do during this 9-month event. Thank you, The Biking Bishop

Good Evening,
I am an employee at the Wilkes-Barre Distribution Facility in Pennsylvania. I currently work overnights as a merchandise handler and I really enjoy my job and take pride in my work. I’ve been employed by True Value for about 6 months and in that short time, have managed to average a rate of 100 since the start of my employment, so I would consider myself to be an asset to the success of the company. With that being said, I’d like to voice my concern and disappointment in how HR and the managing staff have handled my request for bereavement when I informed them of my Grandfathers passing. I was mislead into believing I was able to take the 5 conservative bareement days from both my supervisor Melissa Kochanski and my HR representative Kristina Szczecinski. I provided an obituary and pictures of the funeral to both individuals. My Grandfather is from The Dominican Republic and that is where the funeral took place, so the obituary was written in spanish. Day one into my bareevement time, my Supervisor informed me via text message that HR said my obituary needed to be “Transcribed.” I wasn’t sure what that meant, so I responded and for the following 4 days tried to get ahold of HR to address the matter. I wasn’t able to get in touch with anyone from the Human Resource Team, but In the meantime, I was in constant contact with my supervisor and she never informed me that I should come in prior to the alloted 5 days. In fact she told me to come back in on Monday, which was the end of my bareevement time. I struggled to get in touch with anyone from the HR team for 2 more day after returning to work. It wasn’t until I went to the Plant Manager, Tymish Halibey about my missed compensation and pointing out for taking Bareevement that He was able to reach and HR representative with one call. Upset about the lack of professionalism, communication, and money loss, I spoke to Kristina from HR, only to have her abruptly end the conversation by hanging up on me while trying to get some answers. This entire experience was disheartening, demeaning, disrespectful, and stressful. To be treated so unkind by the very department put in place to mediate matters like this in a professional way is completely uncalled for. I’m not asking for anything outside of what I deserve and that is only my compensation for the 5 days of bareevement which HR is now claiming I shouldn’t get. I have 3 children and rely on a steady income to provide. I did exactly what was expected of me by contacting all necessary parties. The actions of thoes who have been hired to produce accurate and timely information were again, unprofessional and not of the standard of what this company represents. Thank you for your time, patience, and understanding.

Regards,
Deanna Jackson
