Overstock.Com Headquarters Info & Photos

The present headquarters at Midvale was designed by EDA Architects Inc. while Oakland Construction Company Inc. oversaw the construction. The 230,000 square feet building, featuring three stories, has a Roman-esque coliseum design, and has been named the “Peace Coliseum”. The construction of this headquarters started in 2014 – which was the 15th anniversary of Overstock.com – and was completed in 2016, the very year the company moved into it from their old headquarters at 6350 South 3000 East, Salt Lake City, UT, 84121.

The relocation was viewed as paramount due to the growth of the workforce of Overstock.com and the Peace Coliseum present can accommodate up to 5000 employees. The edifice features a large open air space on the ground floor. Along with the multiple workspaces, you will also find juice/coffee bar, game room, cafeteria, and meeting/conference spaces within the building.

A distinctive aspect of the building is the ‘view smart glass’ installation which promotes the well-being of individuals working at the headquarters. This installation imposes LEED attributes on the building and also enhances HVAC technology and effortlessly allows natural light into the building.

About Overstock.Com

History

Overstock.com was established by Patrick M. Byrne in 1999, with the company selling excess and/or returned merchandise. The creation of Overstock.com can be safely said to have been fated by Bryne’s discovery of D2-Discounts LLC. Having liquidated a host of retail businesses whose products were ultimately acquired, Overstock.com was able to make over first US1.5 million sales within the maiden year of operation.

The liquidation of inventories from distressed e-commerce businesses, and the eventual sales of such goods brought about exponential growth of Overstock.com business. This is among the major reasons that propelled the company to hold its initial public offering in 2002, with shares at US$13 per share – a total of US$39 million was raised at the initial public offering.

The company launched its Worldstock subsidiary in 2001 to promote the production of goods – on its behalf – from developing countries. Another subsidiary was opened in Mexico in 2003 to distribute products within that country.

The company now owns several other subsidiaries through direct creation or acquisition of already existing firms. Some of the prominent subsidiaries include SpeedRoute, Medici Land Governance Inc., SiteHelix Inc., tZERO Group Inc., and Overstock.com Real Estate LLC to mention just a few. Overstock.com hits the US$1 billion mark [in sales] in 2010; this figure has since been doubled.

I’ve been searching Overstock for the area rug on your “Let’s get Happy” tv commercial!!!

BEWARE!!!! THIS COMPANY STEALS YOUR MONEY!!!!!!! I have had the worst experience with the company. I have called no less than 10 times, to the corporate office too, yet no one will answer the phone or help me. I have an email from an Overstock employee stating they would refund my money that they stole from me, but no one has actually done this. When I call customer service, they state a supervisor will call back the next day, but no one calls back. I have called corporate headquarters and can only leave a VM. No one calls back. I was going to order other furniture items, but no way will I ever work with this company again.

  • Tricia says:

I placed an order with Overstock 8 weeks ago for a 6 piece bedroom set. When I received the bedroom set the bed hardware and cross members were missing. I called customer service and was read the standard prerecorded message. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told that a supervisor would call me within two business days. In two business days a supervisor called and said she would research it and call me back. Here was are two weeks later and 14 days sleeping on a sofa and I still don’t have the right parts. I feel like I’m in a bad dream. Today, I received the parts and they sent the exact same parts that we’re originally sent absent the hardware. Instead of sending box #1 they sent box#3. But why didn’t I receive the correct parts the first time? Why is it my responsibility to google the assembly directions, yes they were missing also to determine what parts were missing? This experience has made me want to scream bloody murder. Please never shop at Overstock!! I don’t have the energy to write anymore. Please don’t shop here!!!

  • Barbara Shull says:

I purchased a Sunjoy 10×10 Gazebo with Netting and Khaki Canopy from Overstock on August 11,2020 for $300 Order# 3037180005. I was told it would be arriving on August 24,2020. I was given a tracking number. When I click on the tracking number it confirms that it has been shipped and is in Morrisville, NC at the UPS location where I live. I never received it. My husband called Overstock last night on August 27, 2020 and spoke to a Customer Service Rep. He was informed that it actually never shipped and was out of stock but his debit card was charged the $300. She said she would check the warehouse and call him back in 4 days to confirm. I am very upset as to why Overstock would let us purchase an item that was out of stock and then send us a tracking number to an item that was never shipped and then charge our debit card. If we would have never called to track this item I guess it would have just been in limbo and we would have never received an updates. I am highly upset with Overstocks lack of communication and customer service and will never recommend or do business with Overstock again. Please contact me at barbara.shull@sas.com or 919-414-0427. This horrible business practice is highly Unacceptable! Looking forward to hearing from you.
