New York Jets was founded in the year 1959. The company has been active for almost 60 years now. The former name of the organisation was Titans of New York. The organisation was an original member of the American Football League. Later onwards, the franchise joined the NFL in the AFL–NFL merger in the year 1970. Under new ownership, the current name was adopted in the year 1963 and the franchise moved to Shea Stadium in the year 1964 and then to the Meadowlands Sports Complex in the year 1984 as well. On July 4, 2022, Jermaine Johnson and Olivia Lewis (his girlfriend), contacted me on Facebook as they were interested in buying my couch as well as TV stand.
On July 7, 2022 at 7pm, Jermaine Johnson and Olivia Lewis came to pick up my couch I was selling. At the time they arrived, my friend Linda Olive was at my apartment with me. I asked Jermaine to pay me on Zelle or Venmo. He told me he was unable to Zelle that much at once. He said he had to wire the money to me instead. I explained to him I was not comfortable with this. He told me to google his name because he is a famous football player for the New York Jets. He also said his girlfriend is a cheerleader and that they are trustworthy.
I then provided the information for them to wire the money for the couch and the TV stand into my business account. As I was assisting Jermaine Johnson move the couch to his truck, I handed my phone with my business account information to Olivia Lewis so she could put it into the wire transfer application. An agreed upon amount for both the couch and TV stand was $4,160.
Jermaine told me the money would be sent to my bank and be in my bank account the following day, July 8th, 2022. From July 8th on, I never received the money in the bank. I contacted Jermaine Johnson and Olivia Lewis to let them know the wire transfer still hadn’t come through. They said the money was already withdrawn from their bank account. I went to my bank (Bank of America) in person and asked them if the wire transfer came through and into my account and they said no.
On July 19th, 2022, Olivia Lewis told me to stop contacting them and their people will contact me. A few hours later I received a text from Jermaine Johnson’s agent Garmai to ask me information about the couch and TV stand.
On July 20th, 2022, I went to the Bank of America in Fort Lauderdale, Florida as that is where I currently reside. While at the bank we attempted to contact Jermaine Johnson, Olivia Lewis and their agent Garmai and never received a response. At the bank, I spoke to the manager and they provided me the necessary information stating if they did do a wire transfer to make sure they didn’t type my name wrong. The bank manager said if they can get on the phone with me they would be able to find out what went wrong with the money. Unfortunately, since they refused to answer the phone, the bank manager was not able to fix this issue.
I continued to attempt to contact Jermaine and Olivia Lewis but later realized they blocked me on all social media platforms as well as my phone number. I had no choice but to come back to New Jersey to file a police report. Before I went to the police station upon my arrival in New Jersey, I went to the bank to see if they could do anything more. They explained they needed the federal number of the wire transfer and also the manager from the Bank of America in Butler called both Jermaine Johnson and Olivia Lewis and neither answered. I went to the police station and filed a report. The police reached out to Jermaine Johnson and Olivia Lewis themselves. The police told me to go back to the bank and let the police officer speak to the manager at the Bank of America. The manager at the bank explained to the police that they need a federal number to track the wire transfer otherwise the money could have been sent back to Jermaine’s account.
Still to date, Jermaine Johnson and Olivia Lewis have yet to contact me and or provide the necessary information in order to track the wire transfer they claim to have sent. I am extremely upset and disappointed. I am a mother of three children and I need these funds in order to support my children and pay my son’s college . I have unfortunately now lost time working because I had to come back to New Jersey to file a police report.
I asked Jermaine Johnson and Olivia Lewis to go to the bank or speak to the bank and they still have never responded. I still have not received any money for what they agreed to .
