We need assistance with resolving an issue with your store in Tupelo, Mississippi. They came to our house performed a simple cleaning of two lines, stated that they would need to bring the jetter back to finish the job but charged us $850. The $850 was not discussed before they charged, we paid it but disagreed with the charge and now due to this disagreement and the Tupelo, Mississippi Rooter attempting to blame another company for the problem that they caused. The situation has become very heated since we have been with two working bathrooms for about two months now. After Tupelo, Ms Rooter attempted to blame the other company, that company came out, dug up the ground to check their work and they were able to decide that the issue for both bathrooms plumbing is coming from the issue of the house which why we called the Tupelo, Ms Rooter to assist us with. The Tupelo, Ms Rooter is stating that they discussed with us the price of clearing the lines, but this is not true. They told us that the jetter would cost about $500-$600 an hour. And that they would have to return on the following Monday to finish the job. They charged us $850 and we paid it, but we are still without two working bathrooms in our home. We are in desperate need of your help.

I couldn’t be more disappointed and dissatisfied with all the work that has been performed at my house. I hired MR.Rooter to fix my drain issues, after investigating they told us that they can fix the drain issues, they talked me into eliminating my septic tank and redo drain line/ tie in to main public sewer. Stating this would fix all my issues. This cost us approximately 17k dollars to fix. After work was completed they told us everything is working great. After a few weeks my house flooded shower and toilet backed up and my master bedroom was full of water. I reached out to them immediately to see what’s going on and to resolve the issue that was never fixed. I spent 2 weeks waiting for an answer only to be lied to, that we never paid them to fix the root of the problem. After that I was transferred to the general manager, we explained to him our situation and that the job was not done according to what they quoted us on. He turned the whole situation around stating we never paid to have that section of the job done, even though we have it written in the bids. He also told me that it’s gonna cost us more money to have the issue fixed even though we paid for the issues to be fixed from the start. It’s really sad to see people just take advantage of others! I truly believe the general should not be in charge there, he’s making the whole branch look bad. ( Please do not use them. ) I wouldn’t want you guys to go through the same situation I did. We spent a total of 17000$ only to still have the same issue that we originally paid for to get fixed. Due to all this we cannot use our bathroom/ shower it backs up with water daily. Please do not use them for your next plumbing project.

I think the CEO needs to come to Cleveland under cover and check her franchise in the Cleveland and surrounding area .
I work in a nursing home and they came out and some work and didn’t finish and when we called them a ton of there supervisor can and told us if we didn’t like there work we need to find someone else to do the work.

  • Diane Trotter says:

I contacted Mr. Rooter because of a stoppage in my kitchen sink. Plumber arrived about an hour later. The advertisement show $89 to clear a drain. I expected that. The plumber did an assessment and talked about how my pluming was installed incorrectly and the cleanout? was covered by cabinets. He mentioned other things wrong that would require more work to unclog my drain and the price would be $280. He talked about several other services. As he worked, the plumber held up a part to talk about it. After about 30 minutes I walked over to the sink and the water was running. I said, “Is it unclogged.” The plumber hesitantly said yes. He said he had to go to the car to get more seals. I continued to stand by the sink because it looked like they were done. The plumber talking about needing seals to keep from leaking. I told him several times that I have a home warranty contract and will use them to do the more extensive work. I asked for an itemized bill. He asked why? I told him I want to see the what was done to bring the bill to $280. He said he had to snake the drain in a different place since he couldn’t get to the normal place being the cabinet and it cost $125. $89 + $125 does not amount to $280. It amounts to $205. He then brought a tablet over, where I expected to see the itemization. It was just a place to sign and asked, where is the itemization. He said I would get it afterward. I signed and asked about the itemization again. He said he would need my email address. Then he presented a credit card screen for me to pay. I reminded him that I want an itemization. He then asked my email address. When I received the email, it was coded as a special with a price of $280. This appears to be a bait and switch in price.

I’m considering rather or not I should file a small claims case.

The Mr. Rooter Franchise based in Independence, Ohio, Came to our home due to a clogged pipe leading to the sewer from the kitchen and a foyer bathroom in our home. We were charged $560 for the removal of the toilet and for them to snake 50 feet. Three hours later, They said they could not clear the clog and would need $6000 from us, for them to dig a trench in our backyard and replace about 7 feet of pipes. They said they needed half down immediately to begin work the next morning. My husband and I thought better of it and contacted someone else that evening. A plumber came out and in 20 minutes had snaked 80 feet and cleared the clog. For the franchise to charge $6000 for something that did not even need to be done is unconscionable. Whether it was intentional, which is what we believe, or utter incompetence, it is a slimy way to conduct business. We have already warned our friends, family and coworkers never to deal with Mr. Rooter. And we will continue to do so.

I have been calling Mr. Rooter off and on since they installed our water heater the end of August and the master plumber still hasn’t come out to inspect the water heater. I’ve called the last two weeks, either the person is at lunch, in a meeting etc. and I am not getting called back or an inspection scheduled. Extremely frustrating.

  • Caleb Covington says:

Terrible company, will never do business with them. Closed on my House last Friday. Had low water pressure in some of my pipes on the hot water side, called my home warranty they sent out Mr. Rooter. Two guys showed up and in 10 minutes told me every pipe in the house needs to be replaced. They called my Warranty company and told me it was going to run me 22k for everything. Called a local plumber the next day and he blew out my pipes and fixed the issue and charged me $190. I also wrote this to my Warranty company to remove them as a Vendor.

  • Dan says:

I hired this company to clear some plumbing for me. It was my toilet. I even removed the toilet before they got here to make it easier for the tech. He took pictures and emailed them to me showing that the water level was at the top of the drain. He then took a huge electric power auger and put it down into the drain and “snaked” it out. Well, the auger broke the drain under my home. Then, he gave me an estimate to fix the very drain he busted. I called the company and they sent him back to my house. He said it was already broken. If it was already broken, why was it holding water? This is how you do business? Not fair. Now I have a problem I can’t afford to have fixed and a company “snaking” out of it. After over 35 years of working in and around customers homes, if I had broke something, I would have had to pay for it. I thought you were a better company than that. That’s why I hired you in the first place. I’m disabled and a veteran. Shame.

Hey Dan. My mom just paid 1484.39 for her excess water issue in the front yard. The guy pulled bricks in front of the house by the water hose area and told her he has a friend who she can pay to put them back together. Then that wasnt the problem area. My Mom pointed out the running water from the water valve then after he kept coming ang all day a 2nd plumber came out to and instructed the 1st one on what do next. I wish I could show u pics of how they left the house. Awful mess! Now this morning both bathrooms are stopped up along with the bathtub and sinks. I was told it was a separate issue. Why? They just left last night…Oh yeah not to mention they cut down her bushes and left a big hole there. Im not ever recommending them to anyone and I may just sue if they dont fix it right this time. Im calling corporate Monday. Today is 7-10-2021. No stars for them. Grief for us. My Mom is 77 yrs old and we both disabled.I understand your disgust. Take care sir.

I live in Camarillo, CA and Mr. Rooter installed a complete new sewer system in our home in 2014. The paperwork indicates a “lifetime warranty” and it’s also transferable. We have not had any issues until yesterday, so I called the telephone number off of the magnet we were given in 2014. They were scheduled to come out at 3 PM, but the girl called back and said, they were running a little late…I just said OK. So, the guy shows up around 4:30 PM….a little late, whatever. He tells me it’s going to be $168 to clean out the drain, I said OK, go ahead. It didn’t seem like he really hit anything while cleaning it out, he just said, I must be putting something down the sink.NO NO NO. I have lived here 38 years and I know not to put anything down the drains. I completely clean off my dishes with paper towels before hand washing them, yep…we don’t have a dishwasher, I am the dishwasher. Then he explains they can do this power wash thing for another $199…..no, I said the work you just did should be guaranteed for at least 90 days, he said yes. So, when he ask if I was paying credit card or check, I told him credit card. At this point he hadn’t even given me a written estimate…….nothing in writing. I paid him, he had to call the credit card in….I said, where is my receipt? He says….oh, you want a receipt, well yeah………. Heck, I really wanted them to write down everything he had done and including the cost, but I guess they don’t do this anymore. So, he calls the credit card person back and the guy says, I’ll send you an email copy, OK fine. So, I get the email copy and all it shows is I paid them $168, but not for what. I also told this guy, we had our home completely re-piped with Mr. Rooter in 2014, he says….oh, that company is no longer the same…….WHAT! I told him, you are Mr. Rooter and I called the same telephone number I did in 2014, so you better be the same company. He’s wearing a Mr. Rooter shirt……… I was told my sewer line is lifetime warranty, so I’m expecting if something to go wrong, Corporate will be backing me up on this…..I have the paperwork on all of this. Thank you

I will be mailing you a hose connection and valve that was put in by a franchisee in Huachuca City, AZ.that failed because he used some wrong connection materials in our new hot water installation. We were gone on a 3 week vacation and the day after we returned the faulty connection failed. If we had not arrived home when we did, a disaster of immense proportion could have resulted. we had a local plumber fix it because when my husband called at 6:30 in the morning to report an emergency, we were told that the franchisee could come in 7 days, the following Saturday to fix it. Terrible service after the installation.
