Kronos Headquarters Info & Photos
Kronos started from its corporate headquarters which was in proximal distance to Harvard University’s business school. The headquarters was then moved to a leased apartment in Waltham, Massachusetts in 1983 where it remained for around 17 years.
Then in the year 2000, the global headquarters was moved to Chelmsford, Massachusetts, and it was from there that the company relocated to the current global headquarters in Lowell, Massachusetts.
The present global headquarters of Ultimate Kronos Group is within the CrossPoint Towers where the company occupies 16 floors to accommodate a staff strength of over 1,600 persons. By the way, Kronos takes about half the capacity of the entire building – this makes it the single largest occupant of the towers.
Kronos is expected to run its operations at this location for another 7 years having signed a 12-year lease agreement with the management of CrossPoint Towers in 2016. It is very possible that Kronos will seek to expand its office space within the headquarters due to the plans to increase the size of the workforce.

About Kronos
History
Kronos was founded by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) graduate, Mark Ain in 1977 – Mark also doubled as the company’s CEO until 2005. The company started as a producer of time clocks and made the first known microprocessor time clock in 1979. The time clock was created by Mark Ain with assistance from some of his friends from MIT.
The management of Kronos has always look out for ways of enhancing its market value by formulating advanced options. This gives insight into why it has embarked on various acquisitions and mergers. In the period between 2011 and 2020, Kronos had achieved 10 different acquisitions. It should be noted that most of these acquisitions were strategically targeted at software companies. However, in February 2020, Kronos merged with American multinational technology firm, Ultimate Software, and by this, its name eventually became Ultimate Kronos Group.
It is based on this merger that Kronos is now able to deliver cloud-based human capital management services – with the incorporation of Ultimate Software’s “UltiPro”. Again, by virtue of the merger, the PeopleDoc service offering is also added to the list of products on Kronos’ stable. Being a private company, the ownership is ceded to an equity investment firm, Hellman & Friedman LLC which is presently the majority shareholder with 50% of the company’s stakes.
Services
Kronos provides workforce management and human capital management solutions to help businesses and organizations have smooth operations, with employees’ productivity boosted. The products include the “UKG Pro” – formerly “UltiPro” – which is a suite that can be used in managing such functions as payroll, service delivery, talent management, and other activities associated with human capital management.
Another product is the “UKG Dimensions” – which used to be known as “Workforce Dimensions” – which is powered by artificial intelligence to give insights on an organization’s operations as it draws from industry-based experiences.
Lastly, we have “UKG Ready” – formerly “Kronos Workforce Ready” – which has been developed to create a more vibrant work environment through effective and efficient communication.
