Many people find it hard to visualize a world without a supermarket. Before supermarkets and retail stores came into existence, people used to shop at a separate and small store for every division of food. The first supermarket was launched in America in 1946. Have you ever thought about where was all the food before that? Circumstances have progressed over the years and developed into the modern supermarkets we have now.

Kroger is one of the world’s third most extensive retail shops and the biggest chain of freestanding supermarkets in the United States. It manages more than 1,300 supermarkets in 24 states across the nation, principally in the Midwest, South, Southeast, and Southwest.

Kroger Headquarters Info & Photos

Kroger is a multi-billion American retail company which is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Earlier the building facade of the HQ was blue and white. After the renovation of the building in the year 1980, GBBN Architects modernized the facade material with a new aluminum skin.

After World War II, the highly-contemplative Kroger building grew to be the first significant business high-rise building to be constructed in Cincinnati. It is also one of the farthest buildings from the river of Ohio, almost 10 blocks to the north.

The Kroger Co. inaugurated a new digital team HQ into the Atrium two building.

About Kroger

History

The story of the Kroger Company started in the year 1883. Bernard H. Kroger began one of the first chain operations in America with the Great Western Tea Company. At the age of 24, Bernard became the sole owner of the Great Western Tea Company. He had started four more grocery stores by the summer of 1885. The company was renamed to Kroger Grocery and Baking in the year 1902. Kroger came up with the idea of opening his own bakery store to cut down the expense of buying baked goods like bread. He was able to sell them at a cheaper price, which led to higher value margins. By the year 1929, Kroger had successfully inaugurated 5,575 stores. The company merged with Fred Meyer, Inc. that made Kroger one of the largest grocery retailers in the United States. It has also received the highly prestigious Black Pearl Award for food safety, in the year 2012.

Services

Kroger wellness services offer a broad range of health management services like health screenings, vaccinations, medication therapy management, pharmacy coaching programs, and tobacco suspension.

Kroger Mergers are dangerous! Way too much corporate power and control over the food supply of America. Domestic terrorism possible. The COVID-19 Vacation placed Americans at-risk, Kroger ran the market squeezed every penny they could and put profits over people. Management that is lazy and lawless, no internal policies that respect the human dignity OR human rights of employees. Poor customer service. Filthy Bathrooms IF they are open; sewage spill in the store aisles. Roaches in store (stock rooms and on the floor). Human Resources nepotism and high turn over. Bleh…

Y did you people at the corp. office STOP the pharmacies at your stores from doing cholesterol tests? I called my local one and they said it was the corp. Office that had it stopped. And that it was stopped before covid ever came out. So the excuse of because of covid is a lie cause you had it stopped BEFORE COVID-19 EVER CAME OUT. SO WHAT IS THE REAL REASON THAT CHOLESTEROL TESTS ARE NOT DOBE ANYMORE AT THE STORES WITH THE PHARMACIST? I BEEN ON THE PHONE OVER A HOUR TRYING TO FIND OUT Y. IF COVID IS THE EXCUSE THAN Y ARE CUSTOMERS NOT WEARING MASKS IN YOUR STORES? Y AIN’T THE STORES MAKING PEOPLE WEAR MASKS THAN IF ITS THE EXCUSE TO Y CHOLESTEROL TESTS ARE NOT DONE ANYMORE AT THE STORES. YOU GUYS AT KROGER HAD BETTER FIND A BETTER ANSWER CAUSE YOU STOPPED UT BEFORE COVID-19 EVER CAME. YOU NEED TO HAVE CHOLESTEROL TESTS AGAIN. THERE IS A SIMPLE MACHINE THAT CAN TEST IT AND EVEN GIVE GLOCOSE TOO. AND THE RESULTS SHOW UP IN A MINUTE. SO NO EXCUSE TO Y THEY CANNOT BE DONE. YOU GIVE FLU SHOTS OR PNEUMONIA SHOTS EVEN COVID VACCINES. THERE IS BLOOD WITH THEM. YOU DON’T THINK THAT PEOPLE BLEED WHEN YOU GIVE THE SHOTS. YOU ARE WRONG THEY DO BLEED. SO THE BLOOD EXCUSE FOR NOT DOING THE CHOLESTEROL TESTS IS UNACCEPTABLE CAUSE OF BLOOD ASSOICIATED WITH FLU SHOTS OR VACCINES. SO I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS THE REAL REASON? IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO TELL ME YOU ARE AGGRIVATING ME! I WILL GO ON NATIONAL TV AND PAPERS AND FACEBOOK ETC… TO GET THE WORD OUT ABOUT THE LYING EXCUSE OF COVID BEING Y YOU DON’T DO CHOLESTEROL TESTS. AND THAN I WILL SUE. AND NOT FOR A PRETTY PENNY EITHER. YOU HAVE MADE ME MAD BY THE RUN AROUND BEING ON THE PHONE FOR OVER AN HOUR. YOU SPENT BILLIONS ON GETTING THE ALBERTSEN BRAND STORES. GUESS WHAT MY LAWSUIT IS GONNA BE FOR!

This comment is regarding Kroger and Speedway, Indiana the zip is 46224 so that there’s no mistake.

Not only has the store been filthy and nasty, but just in the last few weeks Kroger has attempted to increase staff and I can tell that the store has been a bit cleaner; however, in doing so you have hired people that really does not want to work. So after standing in line for a long period of time only to get to the register to be treated like a dog by staff that is unacceptable. Then, when you request a manager the manager Jeff does not want to deal with customers, so his way is to give you a $25 gift card and tell you that he’ll take care of it. Mind you, this instance was on camera happened October 9th 2022 the young lady that was ringing me was fine, but there was a bagger that was sent over that when she walked up she had her cell phone in her hand on her cell phone and while myself and the cashier bagged the groceries. So I looked at her and asked her why are you here and she just looked at me I said are you here to bag and she just kept looking at me and then finally she said yes I said then why aren’t you bagging why are you standing there on your phone watching myself and the cashier bag the groceries when at the time I was trying to resolve some of the prices of the items that I had gotten that the cashier was clearing up for us. there is never a manager at that large Kroger they never come up just filthy will not monitor the staff. it’s a shame you’re spending two three $400 for groceries only to be mistreated by staff I have recently asked that the Kroger be closed down I submitted and filed a complaint myself I am in the process of getting people together so that we can pickett this Kroger it’s no longer a joke when you do have good employees but when you do have good employees they are treated so badly by your managers that it’s ridiculous accused of stealing it’s those managers that are rarely on site I’m talking about the front area managers (not the newly appointed managers) in the last couple of months I’m talking about the existing managers that never come out never take care of anything I’m sure they’re the ones that’s doing all the stealing while never on the premises, it is Ghost employment isn’t it? and it is not doing that store nor staff nor this problem any good I have asked to speak to someone so that I could verbalize my concern but apparently that is not what Kroger wants. We can get another store that cares we have to go outside of where we live to go to another store so that we can be treated with dignity and that we can get the product and the service that we rightfully deserve and where managers are present. This race year 2022 the IMS went to a Kroger in Brownsburg & Avon Indiana to represent Indianapolis Motor Speedway, because the Kroger that is several blocks away from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was too filthy and too trashed and too nasty and that is the reason why I’d like to say that if you Mr Rodney McMullen that’s so proud chair and chief executive officer Christopher hi Jim executive vice president and Timothy Massa the group of Vice President of HR and they were relations and Mark Tuffin senior vice president and Michael Donnelly coo and Executive Vice President if you’re proud of your Kroger and you’re saying that this Kroger is above all you are telling a kroger tale. I am a long timer and local resident I am and it’s a shame that I have to bypass your store to go to a store where I can be treated with dignity, so if you are proud of that then you should be ashamed of yourselves all of you should be ashamed. Not to mention the mice and rat infestation. Some customers/staff pointed this out circulating on fb.

I tried to be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem which you’ve created yourselves I pray that this gets to someone that can look at the situation and give it the care and the attention that it rightfully deserves thank you so much.

If your shopping at North End Port Huron Kroger BEWARE OF THE BAKERY, THE BAKER THEIR [ CAN’T BAKE RIGHT HE PUTS OUT BREAD AND ROLLS AND CINNAMON ROLLS THAT IS NOT BAKED ALL THE WAY DONE STILL RAW IN THE MIDDLE!!!] The worst thing is he thinks he is the worlds best baker! He does not CLEAN BAKERY every day like your suppose to dirty and nasty. It’s a wounder some one has not got sick their yet. Eating too much raw dough can cause KIDNEY FAILURE, DIARRHEA AND ABDOMINAL CRAMPS. I use to be a baker their I left because I didn’t want to get blamed for getting any one SICK and get SUED over it. Believe me I tried telling the MANAGERS but they said [THEY DIDN’T WANT TO HEAR IT OR JUST DEAL WITH IT] I tried to send E-MAILS to all the KROGER HOT LINES, KROGER CORPORATE GUESS WHAT NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR ABOUT IT!!!!! BE WARNED!! YES I took lots of pictures to back up my claim and showed a co worker I cut open a loaf of bread and it was RAW in the middle, yes I got pictures of that too. So if you try to complain to Kroger THEY DO NOT CARE AS LONG AS THEIR MAKING MONEY THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT US! I have one more shot going to get it touch with the local paper and show them all the pictures see if they can help. SO YOUR FOR WARNED! HOPE THIS HELP YOU! GOD BLESS.

I am retired from a competitor. I know grocery and understand customer service. I was a dedicated employee and did 95% of my shopping at my store… but now I’m free to shop wherever with no guilt. I help my niece with groceries about once a week. I take her to frys by her house. The frys app should not be that difficult! Download for a ad price and/or download a digital coupon. So I thought I downloaded the coupon for my cherries from produce for 1.99 lb. But it did not come off on tge receipt. So the cashier told me they would help me at customer service, but to download the coupon before I get there. After waiting in line and trying to find it I could not get it. So now it’s my turn… the lady at the desk took my phone went into a cpl of screens and found it. I asked her how she got there and she seemed agitated and quickly told me. I said ok… ty… can I get the difference from paying 4.99 lb to the ad price of 1.99? She told me no, that corporate would not let them do that anymore. Oohhhh.. ok then, refund the bag of cherries. She slammed her pen down and proceeded on with tge refund. I would NEVER treat a customer like that. So having shared my story, I will add that I will no longer shop there. I will drive as long as it takes to get to another grocery… maybe they would appreciate my money!!

I’ve been trying to get coupons sent to my email, in order to do this I need my Kroger password. I sign up for my Kroger card when they first cane out, there were no smartphones or passwords, but they won’t let me sign up without a password. I’m 85 years old, Kroger is NOT friendly to senior citizens!! How many seniors have a smartphone to get their coupons? When you do call Kroger’s you get someone who can’t speak English and you can’t understand them.

They have the worst customer service department I’ve ever dealt with.. They use an offshore call center who aggravate you put you on hold for 12 to 15 minutes at a time and the issues are never getting done I have never been lied to and mistreated so badly Why are we using offshore and they don’t care don’t ask them don’t ask them if they have an American call center they say they don’t and they won’t try to reach you they put you on hold but you on hold over and over and over again we’re fed up

Kroger should have a bathroom monitor. The bathrooms are terrible most of the time. Every one I have visited has something wrong…no toilet tissue, out of soap, paper towel, paper thrown on the floor, air fresher would be nice. There’s seniors that need a few hours a day to greet customers and keep your bathrooms tidy. You should try it. I would even organize it for you. I work in the Human Resources field. Contact me. We can work something out.Thank you.

I live in Henrico County, Virginia. Henrico County is one of the most wealthiest Counties in Virginia. I can NOT understand why we can’t get a more updated grocery store. It still has the original wall paper from the days of Safeway. The store is too small to carry a lot of different brands or new items that come on the market. There is no drive through Pharmacy. There was a walk up outside but that is closed now. Durning this time of COVID-19 no one should have had to go inside just to pickup from the Pharmacy. The customer Service area is right at the end of check out lines. It is always terrible congestion. I am going to shorten this as I could go on and on. This one store feeds from a very large area of people. Come on now don’t we deserve better than this??? If you have not seen it, get up out of that chair and come look for yourself.☹️Thank you for listening. If there is anything new in the works please let me know. I am very interested. I have been looking for the Kroger Home Sense Baby Laundry Detergent for weeks now. I’ve visited multiple store and called multiple store and can’t get any answers regarding this product I use on my daughters clothing. I’ve called customers services Only to be transferred 3 times and them given the 1-800 number to call again. This type of services is the worst I’ve ever reviewed from Kroger. I’ve shopped with Kroger for over 20 years. I’m not satisfied.

  • Stephen Goode says:

I have my prescriptions refilled at the Kroger Pharmacy in Madisonville, Ky. I have done business with this location for many years. Lately the service has been less than acceptable to say the least. About a month ago I had a prescription that needed refilling. It had refills left to use. The day after it was supposed to be refilled I called and talked to an associate in the pharmacy. They said they were out of that medication and did not expect to get any more in for at least a week. Is this a normal procedure? What if the medication I needed was blood thinner, heart medication, or another necessary medication that I had to take daily? It was 8 days before they finally refilled it. Yesterday I called the pharmacy to check on two prescriptions that were to be refilled. The person I talked to said I could pick them up the next morning. I called the automated line to check on them and it told me that they could not verify the prescriptions. I went to the pharmacy and talked to the pharmacist on duty. I asked him about the prescriptions. He said they were refilled. Why was I told that there was a problem? I then got in line and waited 45 minutes to get my refills. In my opinion this is a poor way to do business and erodes confidence in the location and the company. If this persists I will begin to get my prescriptions at another pharmacy. Not a satisfied customer.

I have ordered clicklist before and have had orders late but this has by far been the worst. I ordered click list on 11/1/2019, my pick up time was scheduled between 6 pm and 7 pm at the Greenville, Ohio store. I live 18 minutes away from the store anyways, so by 5:30 pm I was already in town because I had some other errands to run anyways. I got a call from the kroger at 5:44 pm telling me they were running behind with my order and I asked, “How far behind because of how far away I lived because I was going to come at 6 pm.” There response was just a half hour or forty minutes so I asked if my order would be ready around 6:30 pm or 645 ish and they insisted it would be complete so I said ok. I pull up to pick up my groceries at 6:33 pm, I call and the lady tells me we tried to call you earlier but we couldn’t get ahold of you but we are running behind on your order. I told her that I talked to someone when they called and they told me they were running behind but my order would in fact be done at 6:30 pm or 6:45 ish, at that time they haven’t even started picking my order. At that time I was upset and asked to speak to a manager. I spoke to the manager named Angela, who apologized and told me she was short staffed and didn’t have enough people to pick the orders. I explained to her this was not the first time this happened and how it was becoming a pattern. She said they were going to get my order picked and she was going to personally deliver it herself. I explained how I am doing the click list because I am currently on crutches and cannot come and grocery shop myself and how this is becoming overwhelming, she said she was going to include a gift card for the troubles. I didn’t hear anything and no one came to my house so I called back again at 7:56 pm, I called and asked if the manager had got lost because no one had ever showed up the girl whispers to the manager she wants to know if you got lost, then the manager got on the phone and said no we are loading up the bags right now then I will be heading your way, so I said ok I just wanted to make sure you didn’t get lost because I didn’t hear anything. More time passes, and I call back again 9:29 pm, a male answered the phone and said his co manager has left to deliver your groceries I asked how long ago, because by that time its been hours since my original pick up time and he said 15-20 minutes ago so I got off the phone and waited. At 9:42 pm, Angela (the manager) called me on her cell phone and told me she was at my house with my groceries, my kids went out to help her and she did come with a small gift card. I started putting my groceries away and realized I never received two items, I never received my pack or bagels or my rotisserie chicken. I tried calling Angela back on her cell phone, it rang once and went to voicemail so I called the kroger store back and a guy answered and he said there was nothing he could do tonight but he could let the pick up know tomorrow. My husband got off work so I called to tell them my husband was going to come tonight since he was in town at this time another lady answered and she said ok that was fine. My husband gets there and none of the stuff is ready, the guy named Jesse tells my husband he can go back and get it and my husband said no you can go get it I paid for pick up and nothing has been right this whole experience. So Jesse comes back with the bagels and tells my husband you will have to come back tomorrow for a rotisserie chicken because we don’t have any. My husband asks for a refund and Jesse said he doesn’t have the power to do that and there isn’t anyone else there that can. So now we are expected to drive another 18 minutes for a rotisserie chicken tomorrow. This has been the worst experience EVER and I will not be doing the click list again or shopping at the Greenville, Ohio Kroger!
