Koch Industries Inc. is presently located in Wichita, Kansas, and the site covers a land span of about 180 acres. This site can be said to be the eternal home of the company as it has been there for virtually all its operational years. The headquarters features a host of facilities - from conducive workspaces to administrative quarters, café, training space, and other functional areas.

Koch’s headquarters has undergone expansion at various times. The last of such expansions was completed in 2015, and the headquarters now has a cumulative floor space of about 1,235,000 square feet. The design for the newest office block on the site was done by Wichita-based firm, Alloy Architecture (formerly known as Howard + Helmer Architecture) while Professional Engineering Consulting (PEC) took charge of the construction.

The management has proposed to embark on more expansion projects that result in the construction of more office spaces in the near future – Dondlinger & Sons Construction is the engineering firm that has been consulted to oversee the next upgrading of the facility.

About Koch

Koch Industries Inc. was established as ‘Wood River Oil and Refining Company’ in 1940 by Fred C. Koch who leveraged his experience from a failed engineering business that was set up with a classmate of his at MIT. The name was later changed to what we have today after Fred Koch’s death in 1968. Charles Koch, Fred’s son, then began to fully lead the Group’s operations and secured its first acquisition in Great Northern Oil Company – a move that broadened the company’s business portfolio. Charles was joined by his brother, David in 1970 and both of them would later go on to be in charge of the company’s affairs.

Koch Industries Inc.’s growth has been notably boosted by its acquisitions. The company has acquired companies across different industries; some of its prominent acquisitions include Invista, George-Pacific LLC, Molex, Flint Hills Resources, Oplink Communications, and Infor. Besides these, Koch Industries Inc. created a couple of direct subsidiaries over the years; these include Koch Ag & Energy Solutions, Koch Chemical Technology Group, Koch-Glitsch, Koch Minerals, Koch Pipeline Company LP, and Koch Supply & Trading.
