Eddie Bauer was founded in the year 1920. The company has been operational for almost 100 years now. The founder of the company was Eddie Bauer. The company’s first manufactured product was a quilted down jacket. And as time went by, the company further patented more designs created by it. In the year 1968, the company was sold, and also the founder retired as well.

In the year 1971, the company was taken over by General Mills, and then again in 1988, the company was bought over by Spiegel. Later in the year 2003, Spiegel had filed for bankruptcy, and therefore all the assets of Speigel were sold in order to pay off the company’s debt – but Spiegel did not sell Eddie Bauer. Spiegel then recovered itself from bankruptcy, and later was renamed to Eddie Bauer Holdings, which is now currently owned by Golden Gate Capital. During the year 2013, the company collaborated with apparel brands such as Disney, Nike, etcetera, for the Otis Sustainability Alliance. In the year 2018, the company had also merged with PacSun, for forming PSEB.

I will never purchase Eddie Bauer products again. Your customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. You’re better off not to have one at all. Customer service, when you do reach them, is of NO HELP AT ALL! And still using Covid as an excuse for wait times and lack of employees; give me a break.

My favorite down jacket from all time has been from Eddie Bauer. 20 years ago. That’s my big mistake. Not the same company it was. Customer Service is a NIGHTMARE. Long phone waits. Getting disconnected. Dealing with people who don’t send the Return Labels like they say they will. What is the point of employing these people? I am going to have to drive from NYC to NJ to return jackets that don’t fit and/or are made poorly. Gas, expensive toll, waste of time, poor products. Time for Eddie Bauer to close its doors. My worst experience EVER. RUN, don’t walk away from ordering from them.

My wife bought me two flannel shirts for my birthday. I wore them once and then she washed them just like you said on the shirts for directions. I am 6’4” and always order talls. I been shopping your stores for years. The two shirts shrunk. They were brand new. Never had this problem before with Eddie Bauer shirts or pants. I went back to the wrentham, Massachusetts store with the receipt and just wanted to get another shirts. Manager was very rude to us. Would not listen to us nor take back the two shirts for an exchange. I asked the manager for her name, she would not give it to me nor did she have a name tag on. She was a white female, little bit on chunky side, dark hair and very rude. My wife Linda always buy my clothes there too. The two flannel shirts were $35 each. Can you help us please. I have tried several times to contact the cooperative offices but wouldn’t get through. Please advise thank you.

The female manager just didn’t want to listen to my wife and I. We explained about the two shirts shrinking and how she washed them by the shirts directions and she just said no, and wouldn’t even listen to my wife, we even told her to look up our account we buy there frequently, she wouldn’t even listen said no and started to walk away, that’s when we asked her for her name and she said she didn’t have to give it to us. She had no name tag on either. The boy behind the register was polite and we thought he was going to help us till the manager walk over and got involved. The boy on the register had his name tag on. The manager was very rude to us and just wasn’t willing to help or listen, we were shocked. Never ever had a problem in this store. Please help and advise. I wouldn’t bother you but it was a birthday gift that cost 💲70. For the two shirts.
I tried to reach customer service several times couldn’t get through that’s why I am contacting you.
what ever you can do to help will deeply appreciated. Thank you

Yes I’m having issues with gift cards . The problem is it starts with 3490 1007 **** *** is issued by American Express/Eddie Bauer. And no one seems to know how to redeem it but the 800 number says the amount of the gift card I’ve called the support at any hours and nobody seemed to know what to do with the gift card so I’m stuck in a rut and hopefully I didn’t lose my money.

    It’s sad – especially as credit card companies USED to follow up on/help w/this. A sadly common American business practice is to hire where you can get cheapest/don’t train or provide equipment or tools to do their jobs/treat them as disposable/no supervisor – they have to remote out to someone (they don’t know who) and have absolutely NO KNOWLEDGE of the company/products/services….I’m out blood, bones, untold pain, money and the ability to survive because of years of this due to medical conditions – billed for products which were defective, NOT what I ordered etc. and no coherent communication possible – just scripted rubbish. Get the corporate address of your credit card company if you’ve reported this (it used to be under “Fraud” – now “Dispute” if the purchase isn’t made in person and raise the roof. Good luck – same deal there in many instances. I’ve been billed for a health club I quit in 2002 or 3 – and called so many times over the years – “promised help” – finally this past year somebody checked and said it was only this past few months or this past year – can’t recall. I lowered my voice and said CHECK
    FURTHER – she then added a year, repeat repeat repeat, then back to 2012 – she “couldn’t see further than that.” And it was admitted/acknowledged- and I did get a refund – do you know for what? ONE MONTH. I wish you all the best – maybe contact a local network tv station and have a consumer reporter address the problem on air – THAT might light a wee fire under the company. I can’t for medical reasons, but encourage as many people who have been (allegedly) defrauded by this company to do so. (I’m actually surprised there hasn’t been a Class Action suit – but the only people who make money out of that are the attorneys (no dissing attorneys – know some wonderful ones/some awful ones – same as any group) – but you do all the work, get pennies and they get the mother-load. Yup – shine a light in the media – personalize your story – see what happens. Best wishes! (The true sadness here is that they DO still make SOME very good quality things – I’ve been struggling for 4 years or so – the first coat was beautifully made/well constructed – and should have been very big for me – but that was the point – w/a disease I have I’m not supposed to go out in the cold/but have to – so wear at least 4 layers UNDER the coat – and if I sucked in the gut I don’t have and laid on the floor – I’d have had to hold my breath, and NAKED zip it up like a scuba suit. Unbelievable. Go get some satisfaction – I won’t survive it and due to my worsened state I can’t. But I hope you get your money back – but let me give you some advice – NEVER give gift cards – NEVER. I’d changed wallets – and you always miss something. I later found a gift card from a different co. that might have had perhaps $9 remaining on it…. It said it never expired. I called (as the card said to) to find out the remainder and was told that the card was stolen or fraudulent (It was a gift – I don’t think my MOTHER was in a fraudulent card ring) – long story short – after 6 mos. I think it was – it goes to the State, and you have to spend untold time getting it back. Perhaps they think this fills their coffers – but if you know anything about state policies – it went through MANY departments, then processing & shipping (the “refund”) and probably cost them $10,000 to refund under $10 dollars. I remember thinking at the time – what about poor college kids who carpool up north for a ski weekend, to use their gift card, only to travel hours, get there and their hotel and lift tickets etc. aren’t valid. It’s ridiculous. Just like what goes on with customer service (lower case now). Good luck! You deserve your money back – and I’ve fought so hard for my life for so long – I deserve basic decency too, and my life – but I simply can’t call them again – in too much pain. WHAT A PITY – first coat was beautifully made, but………. torture and injury and worse since. I simply cannot do it anymore. I wish the first coat hadn’t been in a size for a 6 year old….. I’m small, but not that small.

I am currently having issues with the service department. My items were delivered to a wrong address of which I have proof as the delivery company sent me a picture that clearly shows the wrong address. I provided Eddie Bauer with this photograph. At first Inwas assured by customer service that they would send out the missing items once again, this time expedited. Now I sent another email to customer support asking for a tracking number. This time, I get an email from another customer support person who was completely unaware of all the previous emails telling me, they can’t do that and I have to send the items back for a refund… which part of ‘I have never received them’ got lost? This was supposed to be a Christmas present! Now I a, fighting customer support where I am dealing with different people who have no clue what’s going on.

Shockingly bad customer service – well, really, no customer service, they might as well drop the ruse. Like others, I have been waiting over 7 weeks on a refund, have called innumerable times and gotten no resolution, no one will allow me to speak with a manager (are there any?). Filed a complaint with BBB over 3 weeks ago, with NO response from EB. Reading these posts tells me I will never see my refund. EB is now a sad joke, apparently headed for bankruptcy, but the AG should just take over the company now and pay out the assets to creditors. I’m sure small creditors like us would get nothing, but I would love to see EB forced to do the ethical thing.

Absolutely the worst customer service experience. I want to purchase a coat. Your website says certain sizes are not available even though I physically went in 1 store and saw most of those sizes right there. Mine was not so I called customer service for help. The person who I spoke to had no idea what they were doing and 5 times I tried to escalate my call to a manager and your representative refused to do it. She told me that her computer does not reflect what the stores actually have. I told her that I saw with my own eyes sizes she was telling me did not exist and still she would not escalate my call. After a frustrating hour, I gave up..I started the call cool and calm and ended it angry and frustrated beyond belief.

I purchased a coat this past weekend, upon getting home I noticed an odor from the coat. Tried to exchange for another one, manger refused to accept and said it smelled like my cat urinated on it ! I don’t own a cat- so rude. Have called customer service x 3 to resolve. Unable to understand rep and still cannot resolve this issue. They suggested I pay to ship coat back and they will give me a gift card. This is unacceptable and I will never shop Eddie Bauer again. After reading many of the entries below it looks like I may never get my money back. I sent an email to corporate but looks like that will not get me anywhere either. Very sad that a huge company like this is run so poorly. I have been shopping here for years but never again.

Eddie Bauer shipped items that I needed for an upcoming trip to a cold climate. The order was enough to qualify for free shipping (5-7 days) and I had 2-1/2 weeks. EB shipped the very next day so they were on it but FedEx stalled the package. For seven days FedEx has been holding the package in a facility eighty miles from my address. I have called both FedEx and EB. FedEx has spent several days making up outrageous stories from “we never touched your package. The USPS is responsible” to “the package can’t be delivered because EB didn’t put a shipping label on it”. (How did they get it to within 80 miles of my address without a shipping label?). EB was just as bad. They told me that they can’t do anything until two weeks after the package is confirmed by FedEx to be lost. The run around was outrageous. “The website is wrong; it’s not 5-7 days. It’s 10-14 business days” “We don’t have time to update the website because of COVID” etc. We’ve been dealing with COVID for three years, folks. If you can post all of the new stuff you want us to buy, you can certainly correct your shipping times. Anyway. Unable to get a straight answer and unwilling to freeze, I ended up placing a second order to ship next day air. EB CS confirmed that they will ship the order NDAir … in eight days’ time. Seriously? This morning I called again and intentionally pressed the button to enter a new order. I thought they might be more helpful if they were trying to get my money instead of providing service for money they already got. I was right. The man on the order desk guaranteed that the next day air order will ship today AND he called FedEx who promised him that the original order will arrive no later than 8:00 AM tomorrow. My conclusion? People working in EB customer service are trained to have an “I don’t give a hoot” attitude. Postpone. Deflect. Disconnect. It’s a horrible way to do business. But until someone else starts selling outdoor gear for tall women, they’re all I’ve got. I just hope the order desk guy is as good as his word. Otherwise I am in for a few very cold days.

Your sales mdse site should be taken down as it is a fraud. You may receive the merchandise you order but if you need to return anything, you are SOL. I have tried since May and I get a canned email from customer service. I called, what a waste of time. No one answered, I was on hold.

I have been communicating with Eddie Bauer customer service to fix a “simple issue” regarding my daughters Eddie Bauer coat, with no satisfactory conclusion. The little metal zipper snap that clips onto the zipper cord of her coat fell of, broke off. We are looking to get a replacement. We are told to “try” to return the coat. What kind of customer service is this? We just need to replace the little metal zipper snap.

Seriously Eddie Bauer – you can create the “award winning BC flyline jacket and bibs” with Trevor Kennison, designed specifically with monoskiers in mind, but you can’t go as far to introduce a line for women too? I was excited to see a monoskier in your advertising and in your sponsorship line, but then I find out that this is only for men! Get real, there are serious women monoskiers on the playing field. I think you can do better!

I am a frequent purchaser of Eddie Bauer clothing and do A LOT of play in the outdoors, much of which I use your clothing for. I am disappointed.

I called customer service, Jan. 10, 2022, to get help in returning an item. Justirine answered my call then LIED telling me USPS would print the return label. I went to USPS to mail the return, waiting 40 minutes, then learned she was wrong.
I guess she thought it was funny, during the covid crisis, to send a customer to a crowded business.
I received her “how did I do?” survey with this quote attached;. “When you blame and criticize others, you are avoiding some truth about yourself.”
I will keep the merchandise and quit Eddie Bauer.

I hope management sees this comment.

December 10 2021. Anyone notice that the pre-order items you purchased in November are now scheduled to ship after Christmas. I purchased two items. They were supposed to ship by December 11th when I purchased them. Now they say they will ship December 27th and beyond. The item they did ship is lost and they can’t find it. It has been 3 weeks. This has happened several times to me. When eddie bauer has their big sales it says the item is in stock so I give my credit card and buy it online. That was Oct 28, 2021.

It said delivery in 7 to 10 days.i called 2x as I never got it. 1st call I was told that it was shipped. 2nd call said it was shipped but that I had to wait another 15..working days not counting sat and sun. I managed to find a tracking number and it shows that eddie bauer did a shipping label at Vacaville calif UPS but eddie bauer did not bring jacket in to mail. All this time…it is now Nov 19,2021 eddie bauer never shipped the coat.

This was done to me last winter.i
Ordered an oversized down throw with the grand canyon print on it. Online it took my money but later I got a notice saying it was out of stock.

Those super big sales you cannot trust them to get the item to you but they sure make sure they get the money.

Returned a product. It is shown that is has been received on my account but a credit has not been issued, it will be a month since Eddie Bauer as gotten this product back. I would like my money back. And you can believe I will never shop at Eddie Bauer again! Please return my money to me, I will reach out to our department of eCommerce next, if I do not get my money back.

I have contacted your customer service department (clearly outsourced) twice and got no results.

We need to boycott Eddiebauer!! This company has really went down here from decades ago!! I placed an order on Friday October 15, 2021 paid for overnight delivery, never received a tracking number or a confirmation of why my order was not delivered the next day!! So I finally get ahold of this worthless company this morning and was told that they don’t even have the item I ordered in stock until October 22, 2021!! The representative barely spoke English and communication was difficult so I ask to speak to a supervisor, which didn’t happen! The representative informed me that it would be in stock on October 22, 2021, but cannot give me a delivery date!! I tried calling their worthless Corporate Office and of course they are unavailable!! This is the last time I deal with this worthless company! Their website is not current and updated, their customer service is trash, and the worthless corporate office doesn’t even care enough about customers to have someone in the office to resolve their screwups!! I’m a disabled veteran dealing with cancer and other health issues and don’t have time to keep fighting with this worthless company!! Eddiebauer you are a disgrace these days!! 💯

While your offices remain closed (well into the 70% vaccination rate in WA) your Philippines call center is hard to understand, unprofessional, unable to deviate from their scripts, and so poorly trained that it will be hard for me to ever order from you again or step foot into one of your stores. I even worked for you in a retail store years ago and I know what you once were. After reading these other reviews it is easy to see the sad progression of a decent company about to go under. L.L.Bean and Lands-End, I’ll be looking for your sales and promotions.

Eddie Bauer needs to throw up the white flag and close!!! I ordered some items for Father’s Day, paid for 3 day expedited shipping, but never received the confirmation email. When I called on the day that the items were supposed to have been delivered, the rep told me the order had shipped and the 3 day shipping was for me to receive the items in 3 days AFTER they shipped them. I told her she was not telling the truth, 3 day shipping is 3 days from when I ordered the items. She said she would refund my expedited shipping fee and I told her to cancel the order bc it was not going to arrive in time for Father’s Day. She said to just refuse the package when it arrived or take it to a store to return and advised I should have the package by 6/23. It’s now 6/25 and the package still shows it’s waiting for Fed Ex to receive it. I called back today and the rep told me the order is still within the 7-10 day delivery time frame….ummm, not when I paid for expedited shipping sir!!! He then proceeds redo tell me that if I don’t have the package by 7/1, they will resend the package or refund me. Why can’t you do it today Eddie Bauer?!!! I’m not going to receive the package, and have advised twice that I want the order cancelled. Even asked the rep today to contact the warehouse to ask them to cancel the order. I used to receive about Eddie Bauer but unfortunately, this pandemic has caused them to be worse than Walmart as far as customer service.

I’m amazed to see the number of unhappy customers and am glad to know I’m not alone in my struggle to get a refund on a down jacket returned in March. I’ve now made 10 phone calls to customer service waiting at least an hour for help for every call. Each time, the customer service rep has told me that my refund will be processed in 7 to 10 days, I’m still waiting. Eddie Bauer has lost another customer and you’d think with the hard times ahead for retail stores that would be an issue for this company but apparently not. On my last call, I was told that I would receive a refund check that would take 27 days. Eddie Bauer will have held my refund money now for 5 months. Reporting this issue to the Better Business Bureau.

    I have the same complaint. Returned an item, it was acknowledged by EB as returned in an email and refund promised. Time frame passed, no refund, so I called over five times in three weeks, got nowhere with “customer service.” Filed a complaint with BBB which is now over 3 weeks old and no response from EB. Corporate office phone set on permanent busy signal. They simply cannot last doing business this way, but I think the AG needs to step in and take control now.

I purchased several items for Christmas gifts. One of the items was not available for delivery, and I was notified of this. Then, I was charged for the Item (jacket). Then I was notified again it was not available. I have tried repeatedly to have this amount refunded. I have complained to the BBB. Customer service repeatedly shows all the OTHER items delivered, and says I did not get charged. I have the credit card charge, and the date of the charge for the jacket (not available, not received), which sync. The other items were sent at DiFFERENT times and dates. Eddie Bauer still refuses to credit my account back for an item I never received.

Another unhappy customer here. I returned a pair of pants on April 11th. Package tracking says you received it on the 14th. As of now, no refund issued to me. Cominity has issued a provisional credit and keeps sending emails saying they are working on it (sure they are.) Company customer service just responds with canned emails saying the same thing (how to apply for a refund!) I will get this money back but more importantly, I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN and of course, I will tell everyone who will listen about my experience. 10 emails and calls to you and no resolution. How much of a chance do you think you deserve to correct this?????

    I called their head office in Washington State, their closed due to Covid. So, I’m going to go to one of their stores and go crazy! Ps. they didn’t included a bill with the order, so I was told I can’t return it. lolol. I said look it up
    under my email, address, phone number and city! Not hard! They finally did… I’m upset, terrible customer service & I’m sorry but I can’t understand them! Never again!

Wanted to let your company know that Comenity Bank who is evidentially your credit card company decided to cancel my long held Eddie Bauer credit card because I supposedly hadn’t used it in 36 months? When I reached out to Eddie Bauer your people gave me the name and number of the bank. The bank said they closed the account and they would not reopen it. Just thought I’d let you know you’ve lost a customer because of this practice. Not once was I late with a payment to your company. I’ve went quite a while without using my Eddie Bauer card and this has never happened before. The only way I knew is because Credit Karma sent me a notice that the account had been closed. I guess in this time of complete insanity because of Covid-19 your bank decided that you needed even less customers than you currently have or might have in the future. I’m sure the loss of my business alone won’t hurt your company but if your bank does this To a lot of card holders then a lot of lost customers might just be something that will hurt your business permanently. Good Luck with that – Hope your bank chokes on your precious credit card.

I have been trying to contact customer service for 4 days now without success. It is a joke! I have an order that I have never received that states it was delivered to me and I have been charged for. I want a refund. I am a frequent buyer from Eddie Bauer – Never Again! I am finished with this company.

I’ve just spent the past few days trying to resolve issues from my last 2 orders. I received rewards coupon codes and was unable to use them online so I reached out to customer service. Big Mistake! They ended up not applying the coupons, losing my order, and double charging me. Eddie Bauer must have outsourced their customer service because each time I called, I ended up talking to someone with a heavy Indian accent who kept making promises of resolving the problems but ultimately caused more issues. In addition, the Indian reps speaks so fast and unclearly, that I can barely understand them. Now I’m afraid to reach out to customer service for fear of incurring more charges on my account. If this keeps up, I’m just going to have to shop elsewhere!

Once again, I spent an hour trying to figure out if I am going to get my Mom’s Christmas gifts. I am so so confused. I’m not sure where your call center is located or the distribution center is located……. No one at the call center can manage to answer that or the address of the corporate office. I have requested multiple times to talk with a supervisor, but that never happened. This is the second email I have sent and have never heard back from anyone. How sad. Once I get the corporate office address I plan to send my credit card back to your office.
I’m not sure it will not mean much, but it will give me a certain level of satisfaction.

They should really be embarrassed by their customer service department. I’ve had simple requests ignored, I’ve been lied to repeatedly, they’ve shipped orders I’ve requested to be canceled, I’ve sent dozens of emails to customer service that have been completely ignored, and I’ve asked to speak to someone in management numerous times and have had no luck with that either. I don’t expect much from people that work customer service, but this is beyond inexcusable.

I have been dealing with trying to get my order since 10/23/19. I have chatted, talked on the phone and emailed customer service. My order has had multiple confirmations of the order being placed once changing order #’s, three times told it was shipped only to get another confirmation email of it being ordered two days later. This is very sad a once great company has lowered it’s self this quality of business.

I will never order from Eddie Bauer again after having to call the customer service line. They are untrained and not able to resolve any issues. I have been using the on line for ordering and wanted to change an order seconds after I placed the order. I was told this is not possible and given not alternative but to order again and receive both orders. Other businesses have been able to fix the order. I am greatly disappointed in Eddie Bauer!!

    Same issue here. Now they are giving me the runaround about reimbursing me for an unexpected pants hemming, that they said they would reimburse me for – I have it in writing from them. Something is wrong with this company now.

Just tried to place an order by phone and OH MY GOODNESS – the person (said name was Sonja, yea right) sounded as if they were drunk or on drugs… I gave the item number & size (it took several minutes for “it” to tell me what size a large fit) and then I ask “it” to look up my EB credit card # & they just went blank – so I just hung up the phone – kinda scary – who, what, when & where was this person I was talking to!!!!!

Pl take action against all persons in charge of customer service .My returned item reached your Groveport Ohio service on 1/2/09.I could not speak with anyone by phone since then .Only reply “pl stay on line holding onto the telephone.During past 24 hrs I made 6 attempts to call without success one episode more than 30 minutes.Is this the way to do business ?The customers reply on Email is we will promptly reply .What is the meaning of promptness?
