I am writing to discuss my experience at the Dr. Dental, Norwalk office.

First let me preface this by saying, I have previously visited the Amity and Waterbury offices and have not had any issues or an experience quite like I had within the Norwalk office.

My initial appointment was scheduled online on December 27, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., for some strange reason, I was booked at the Norwalk office after entering my zip code. I currently reside in Meriden, Connecticut, which is over an hour away from Norwalk. I replied to the confirmation email that the location was wrong, but conveniently did not receive a reply. Because I wanted to handle this matter prior to year-end, I proceeded with the appointment. Without any discussion or notice, my appointment time was changed, which forced me to change my schedule and inconvenience my employer in doing so by taking more unexpected time off from work. I had initially planned to work until 2:00 p.m. that day.

My initial visit was for an extraction of tooth #28, which is a bottom side tooth. I was advised by my regular dentist to have the tooth extracted (he does not offer this service), but upon visiting Dr. Dental of Norwalk, the dentist that treated me said she could save the tooth with a crown. Trusting the establishment and her expertise, I decided to proceed with the process. I was consulted about pricing from Jerry, which seemed fair, and I agreed to move forward. I was happy to be finally taking care of this and we got started immediately which made me very happy. I went through the procedure to get the crown. The infected tooth was then x-rayed, filled, and fitted with molds, etc. The dentist was unsuccessful with the temporary crown, which I believe is a routine part of the process, which at the time, did seem odd and bizarre, almost if she was not experienced to successfully complete the process. I was then instructed to be careful with the tooth, as it only had a filling, and the office would rush the crown. In a good faith effort to complete the process, I followed all the instructions given and fully complied.

During the visit, I noticed a rather large open concept set-up, which did not bother me at all. I was bothered when the dentist and staff began discussing another patient’s chart in front of me. Doesn’t this violate HIPAA? Another possible violation during this office visit was when the dentist asked the staff member why was (patient’s name) scheduled at 3:00 p.m., and to move her appointment to noon. I then realized; this is the possible reason for the last-minute rescheduling of my appointment without any notice.

A couple weeks later, I was contacted by the “Office Manager” Jerry by telephone to schedule the appointment to install the crown. Jerry was very rude during this call stating that the office had tried several attempts to contact me via telephone, which I had not received any missed calls or voicemails from their office. When I suggested the date and times I could come into the office, Jerry was very combative and unwilling to work with my schedule. I am the only employee of a small law firm and work 8-10 hours most days which makes handling personal business a bit tricky for me. I work Monday through Friday, so afternoons and weekends work better for me. I was told Saturdays were unavailable, although it is clearly printed on the door as operating hours. During this phone call, Jerry raised his voice and yelled at me numerous times insisting, the dentist treating me was pregnant and soon to be out for her maternity leave and that if I did not come in before her leave, I would be responsible for my tooth. Shocked and a bit taken aback due to Jerry’s attitude and aggressive nature, I then suggested several dates that would work which Jerry did not hear because he was busy still yelling at me. I was so disturbed by the call that I requested to speak directly with a supervisor or the dentist. Of course, Jerry did not oblige and arrogantly stated that he was the only one in the office and the dentist does not take calls from patients. Finally, the appointment was scheduled for January 30, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. I then received a text and email with an appointment on another date and time other than what we had just agreed upon to which I replied that the date and time was wrong.

The day of my appointment, I arrived to a very busy waiting room. I sat down after I checked in and waited to be called back. When I got in the back, I requested to speak with the dentist prior to any work being done. When she sat down, I politely explained to her my experience from the last visit and how bothered I was with Jerry’s behavior over the telephone. I also politely asked that I not have to speak with him due to his lack of professionalism and rude condescending behavior. I also asked for a credit to my bill, which I was paying directly out-of-pocket, regarding not having the temporary crown placed, which did not seem unreasonable. The dentist listened to my concerns, apologized for my experience and stated that she would speak with her supervisor. Her response was appropriate, and she seemed genuinely concerned. We then proceeded with my appointment. There were x-rays taken with the temporary crown and then the dentist came in and tested the crown and began adjustments. I admit that when we were going through the process, the fit did not seem right, but since the dentist was making several adjustments, I trusted the process and her experience to see it through. While she made the adjustments, the assistant, dentist and I shared laughs, and everything seemed to be going well. The dentist shared how she had become pregnant on vacation in Greece due to drinking Greek wine. It took time for the dentist to make her adjustments, but I was patient and excited to be fixing this tooth that I put off dealing with for so long. I inquired about dos and don’ts. I also inquired about flossing. The crown was then glued in, but never did the dentist inquire about the comfort or any concerns I had, prior to putting it in with the permanent adhesive. Admittedly my mistake was not asking to see it prior to the tooth being bonded, but I was also not offered to do so. Once the adhesive was applied, the dentist made a couple more adjustments. I mentioned that the tooth felt funny, but then thought that it was only because I had to get used to it. We completed the process, and I went to use the restroom prior to leaving. When I looked in the mirror, I was almost shocked in disbelief, but not in a good way. The tooth was shaped like a back molar, looked really fake, and I could see why the crown felt funny. The crown is shaped totally different from all the other teeth and is noticeably different, specifically in shape and height, than all my other teeth. My surrounding teeth are all vertical, while this one is more horizontal. Upon leaving the restroom, I explained my concerns to the dentist, and she began to make more adjustments. When I stated that I was still concerned about the fit, she suggested that I try it for a few days, but when I stated that I’d rather make the necessary adjustments while I was present (knowing the small window before her maternity leave, the difficulty in taking time off and over an hour long commute), I preferred to complete the process while I was present. The dentist did not respond, she left and in came Jerry.

When Jerry came in the office, I am sure I looked puzzled to him because I couldn’t understand why she would send him in, despite my prior request and explanation of his behavior. When Jerry began speaking it became apparent that my comfort and concerns were not the priority, it was my money and he repeatedly demanded payment of what I perceived to be unfinished work. Due to my telephone experience with Jerry, I was reluctant to speak with him, especially since this was now an in-person confrontation that I was not forewarned was coming my way. I stated to Jerry that I preferred to speak directly to the dentist since she was the one treating me and working with me. Jerry was mean, nasty and unprofessional yet again, and was insistent upon me speaking with him. He spoke to me very loudly, so loud that the entire office could now hear what was happening. I began calmly explaining to him why I was dissatisfied. Jerry interrupted by speaking over me multiple times, and telling me that I was wrong when I began to explain the dissatisfaction and he was again combative and confrontational. Not the behavior one would expect from an “Office Manager”. I was told by Jerry verbatim that I did not know more than the dentist’s 10-year school education. Once it became apparent that Jerry did not come in to resolve my issue, but only demanded final payment, I stated that I was uncomfortable paying if the job was not completed and if I was dissatisfied with the end result. Jerry then told me that I was labeled as “NUISANCE” and told me to get out. I then suggested that the crown be removed, and a full refunded, as I made a payment of half ($550) on my initial visit. I have never in my entire life been labeled a nuisance, spoken to like this in a professional setting, embarrassed or humiliated in this way. I quickly gathered my belongings and left. Upon leaving, the entire waiting room looked at me in shock and in disbelief of what they had overheard. Needless to say, more embarrassment, humiliation and a violation to what should be private and confidential and what I believe another violation of HIPAA. It is also clear from google.com reviews of the Norwalk office that other patients have been treated similarly by Jerry.

The crown is very uncomfortable, and my tongue and top teeth rubs up against it every time I speak, chew, bite down, etc. The dentist also put a black dot in the crown (which I initially thought was from the biting guard but did not go away after brushing and using mouthwash), I believe when she was attempting to make the adjustments. The crown is not smooth like my other teeth so it also slightly scrapes my tongue. It is also grinding against my upper teeth and does not look or feel right. This is my first time getting a crown, so I am not sure if this is normal, but there is also a gap between the crown placement and my gums. I woke up with a headache the morning following my appointment and it has not gone away. This has also affected the way I eat. I in no way can eat on my right side which also puts more strain, not to mention wear and tear on the teeth on my left side.

Now, a week after the visit to the Norwalk office, I have awakened every day with headaches which have been trickling down the right side of my neck and back. I have an unusual color to my gums under the tooth. I have been experiencing some sensitivity, which was never an issue prior to the crown being bonded and I am at a loss of what my options are or any recourse. I am a professional that works directly with clients so this has affected my speech, and confidence.

Would someone kindly contact me to discuss? Thank you.

I am a medical professional who has been trying to reach Dr Dental Waterbury for almost a week now and have received no answer! it is very unprofessional that a Medical office who has mutual patients with concerns can not reach any of the doctors at this establishment! Does anyone have the headquarters number because this needs to be rectified!

Dr. Dental is Springfield, Ma has forgotten about its patients. I have been with Dr. Dental for several years and the last couple of years it has gotten worse. They no longer answer the phone. They prompt you to leave a voicemail but never get back to you. They scheduled an appt for my daughter for 12/26/22 at 8 am. I took her and the office was closed. Poor customer service. I get emails and texts all the time telling me about the company now doing braces but no longer get messages about appts. I have given Dr. Dental long enough to rectify the situation but they simply won’t. Lost several patients and will never make another referral for friends, family and coworkers.

Again, if the receptionist made a mistake telling me that the procedure was covered, DR. dental should be responsible for the payment not me. Invoice number 16724843-1000025.

Nearly two years ago I started Invisalign treatment at Dr. Dental in Edison NJ. In that time I have had three dentists and two office managers. My treatment was never finished. I did not receive a bottom retainer, my bottom teeth are not straight as promised in the treatment images. I have tried repeatedly to resolve this and have been ignored. I have called the office, emailed, spoken with previous and current office manager. After MONTHS I was told I would need to go to another office an hour away to see IF they could continue treatment and when I advised I was unable to do this they began to ignore me again. I have now been asking for my dental/treatment records and that request is also being ignored. This office took nearly $3000 from and did not finish my treatment and is now failing to resolve the issue and refusing to give me my own medical information. An absolute scam.

I have been going to the Enfield office for a year now. The only reason I come this far from Middletown is because Dr. Malhotra was wonderful and I became to trust him and he did awesome work. Then he was transferred to another office and another dentist took over which I was told was the owner. This guy is awful. He canceled my appointment and told me my treatment was done after he put a crown in that he needed to fix it was not put in right and also some more work that needed to be finished, and now they refuse to answer my phone calls so I am making a legal complaint against him

My fiancee just left one of your locations on bridge st in lowell Massachusetts that apparently has gone out of business.

He had shown up 1st thing at the door this morning because his filling had fallen out prematurely that he had done at this location over the summer. After it was completed he had mentioned to the doctor that something didn’t feel right it felt uncomfortable , had jaggard edges ..felt it was incomplete.

He tried getting assistance at another location but they would not see him or help him with the issue. Please give me a call reach out to us 9784217104. thank you

Bristol, CT office is closed until the dentist gets back from vacation! What does that mean??? There is no mention of that on the voicemail message. I only found that out because I actually went to the office. I have an emergency and was thinking I would get a call back. UNBELIEVABLE!! What kind of business are you running? I like the dentist, but the front office is horrible. I called another Dr. Dental, said it was an emergency and a day later, still no call back. That is the West Hartford office. I give up. I’ve given Dr. Dental too many chances to prove themselves as a good dental provider. You may take state insurance, but that is no way to treat patients.

I had been informed that my procedure was covered by my insurance and then I got billed. I have been trying to reach out to billing for two weeks and the recording states the mailbox is full so I contacted my local office and they said they will get back to me and two weeks later no answer after 4 calls. In the meantime I got a second bill this experience has been very negative

I have never had such a negative experience in my life! My temporary crown was put on by an assistant that does not know his job. Your online appointments were scheduling for today. Get there – office closed. If this temporary filling breaks, I am not incurring an additional costs due to your cost ineffective practices and products.
