History

Chase Bank was founded in December 2000 after several major banks combined into one. The banks included J.P. Morgan & Co, Chase Manhattan Bank, and Chemical Bank. The bank would go on to expand rapidly by acquiring other banks. It acquired backs such as Bank One and Washington Mutual.

Most of its history has been characterized by Bank acquisitions. That has been chase bank’s strategy of expanding its business. Currently, Chase Bank has locations all around the world. It is available on almost all continents of the world.

Services

Chase Bank offers banking services and financial products to individuals, companies, and institutions. They offer credit cards, business loans, mortgages, and so many other financial products. They offer asset management services as well.

Facts

Chase bank had to pay $80 million in fines in December 2002. They were charged alongside 10 other banks with deceiving investors. They were accused of using biased research to sway the decisions of their investors.

Chase bank was hit by a cyber-attack in 2014. The attack compromised the accounts of over 83 million Chase bank customers. The attack was noted by the bank’s security systems in July 2014, but they were unable to end it until August.

I can’t get my Money returned to my checking account after I sent a wire of $25,000 and the recipient never received the money, it’s been over 4 mo. I have been waiting, and continuous complaints falls on deaf ears! I am now on the verge of filing bankruptcy, as it’s the only money I have left to my name and just like all the other comments on here, your complaints and escalation team is ridiculous they don’t do anything or the wire recall team is just as bad. I’ve been with Chase for over 10 years I have never had this kind of trouble with any of my banking. I should not have to hire an attorney to receive my money back to my checking account where it originated from in the first place. Like I said it’s the last amount of money I have and hiring an attorney will just take that much more away from me but Chase employees don’t care and don’t want to help make things right!

  • Pam Wolford says:

I would like to file a complaint on the “Complaints Escalation” process. I took the time to report employee(s) insubordination. The complaint was submitted via our local Chase branch. Justin Valdez was assigned to the complaint. I tried repeatedly to reach him (too many voicemails to count), but he never returned the calls. I appreciate how serious our local branch took my concerns, but your complaints escalation system is BROKEN.

  • Prentiss Lee Jenkins says:

As an African American man I am stunned that Chase Bank had ties to slavery. I don’t blame the people who are runninng the bank today regarding the issue of slavery. I do hold Chase responsible for the revenues brought in over 100 years ago through the slave trade. In other words all the people involved in the slave trade that profited off the sale of black people are dead and so are the slaves that Chase profited, but the money that was the profit is still in Chase bank account over 100 years later. I suggest that this ill gotten gain should be distributed among African Americans to support their businesses and help them start new businesses. Prentiss Jenkins jpc4559@yahoo.com

  • Mary says:

I’ve attempted to use your complaint process. I received this message in reply on 10/13/22, “Mary we re-evaluated the complain raised and found that it was placed in the workbasket from our complaints, usually this will take 30 days an up date. Thirty days to receive an apology and correction on rude and intrusive behavior from a Chase employee isn’t acceptable. Your complaint process is unacceptable.

  • Mickie says:

Your money is not safe with Chase. On June 14, 2022, $8,000 was fraudulently wire transferred out of my account. Apparently my cell phone number was also spoofed in order to carry out this fraudulent wire transfer. I went to a Chase branch to fill out an affidavit and explained to the banker that there was something going on with my cell phone too. He told me not to indicate that on the affidavit because it would confuse the situation. I obliged and submitted the paperwork and for more than a month I followed up on my claim. I was passed from department to department. Each Chase representative less empathetic than the last. No one knew what the protocol should be for a wire fraud case. I spoke to dozens of representatives, each giving me different advice. I jumped through hoops, and was on hold for hours, and on July 18 my claim was denied!!! I was told to submit evidence regarding the fraudulent activity on my cell phone. I did not get a resolve until August 4th!! A month and a half after the fraudulent wire transfer! A month and a half of no access to my money. A month and a half of no way to pay my bills. A month and a half of no empathy and no resolve!! I learned my lesson. My money is not safe with Chase. I’ve been with Chase even before the merger with Washington Mutual and before their merger with Coast Savings. I’m appalled at the treatment I received.

  • Jennifer Shively, Dean Coffee - Goleta CA says:

I agree – this bank held my employee’s funds for two weeks, won’t give it to her for another week, and made me come to the branch with TWO FORMS OF ID after they had cashed her check from me to try to prevent “fraud.” They wasted my time, stole Ella’s money, refuse to call my business bank to verify my account – it’s CRAZY. I’ve issued over a thousand payroll checks at this point to out-of-state students and every other bank has cashed them and created accounts for my staff. I’ve been in business for over TWENTYTWO years and Chase is holding my funds that they can verify with a phone call. They are nothing short of AWFUL. Do not bank with them.

  • Richard uhlich says:

Piece of garbage. A bunch of crooks. With them 15 years. Kept a good amount of money in my account and then they treated me like a piece of shit

  • Barry De Saw says:

JP Morgan Chase has been my bank for fifteen years. On May 12, 2022, I called Chase with a fraud claim which occurred on their own web site: chase.com. What I discovered was extremely concerning. The woman (representative) I spoke with had, quite obviously, one central concern: whose liability is this fraud upon? Is it Chase that will be responsible for the fraud, or the customer him/herself? The representative explained that the fraud was committed through the Zelle Quick Pay system, and that they have a full disclaimer on that (chase.com) service and have no liability whatever. At that moment, I acknowledged that I understood this, but was concerned nonetheless because this factually occurred on chase.com, their own web site. The representative seemed befuddled, flummoxed. She stammered and mutter a lame reply that mine was an “understandable” concern. However, she asked for exactly no information about the fraud, which told me all I needed to know about how seriously Chase treats fraud on its website. She did not even say that the fraud would be reported to a concerned agency of state or federal government… not even that! This is gravely concerning!! I have a political blog with the words “human rights” in the title, and the Russians hacked it (for obvious reasons) four years ago. I never reported this because I saw in the news that the government’s own sites – infinitely more secure than mine – had also been hacked by the Russians, so it was absurd to think they’d give a darn about my experience. But, if a large bank like Chase is not reporting fraud ON THEIR VERY OWN SITE, what does this say about law and security in this country???

  • Michelle Vitiello says:

Chase bank is terrible. My acco8ntbwas closed in Feb 2022 and u hadv$3,650 in it when it was closed and I’m still waiting for my money. Everytine I call they tell me the samething. My ac punt is being investigated. Investigated for what? I would not recommend chase bank to anyone. I have contacted a lawyer to help me get my money.

  • Christina Soto says:

OH MY GOD. I read all the reviews and I’m sick to my stomach. Why do you people still do business with this bank? Are you crazy or what? Chase holds my mortgage. Thank God I don’t have an account here. I’m afraid to use my real name. I’ll use the name my mother wanted to give me, but my grandmother ruled.

  • Sarah Chermack says:

    Hello,

My name is Sarah Chermack and I have been a Chase customer for over ten years. In the past year I was stalked and harassed by someone who I currently have an ongoing criminal case against. She got a job at one of the Chase locations in Illinois and abused her privileges to access my accounts. A detective was sent to that location and took her down to the police station, but I was never contacted by that branch, or anyone from Chase. I think Chase needs to be held responsible for employing someone who is going to be a convicted felon after court is complete, and who violated my privacy. She gained access to my address, phone numbers that I was changing multiple times, stalking me based on where I was using my credit cards, and a lot more.
I have already contacted a few lawyers to go over what options I have to pursue and move forward with pressing charges. My safety and my security was not cared about at that location, or just Chase in general. I am extremely disappointed and angry at the fact that this company allowed someone to violate my privacy and security. I hope I get a response in regards to this, seeing as I have not received any confirmation that my information is going to remain safe and if there are going to be any consequences to this employee’s actions.
    Thank you for your time.

    Sarah Chermack

  • Audra Ray says:

Chase bank is awful. Theyve lost almost a thousand dollars of ours because after paying to draft a power of attorney for my husband, and then filling out the banks forms, notarized them etc, the bank STILL closed my husband’s account and didn’t add me to the account. They closed the account and issued a check, I guess but it was mailed….well it’s 6 weeks later and still no check no information and no one will speak to me. You should be ashamed of yourselves. U put a family outside in the street and illegally took it upon yourselves to close my accounts and not give us our money. You’re worthless. This bank disgusts me.

  • RWALLER says:

They issue out predatory loans to senior minorities in small towns.. No wonder you all are so rich. You make millions of dollars on interest on the backs of seniors and minorities. You say giving a 25k loan for 30 years at 5% above prime is a fair offering to poor people. Your no different than those payday loans and auto title loans. Your a predator!

  • Diane M Baptista says:

I deposited a paycheck thru the quick deposit mobile app and it told me my funds would be available the next day. So I did the mobile deposit and a few minutes later I get a notification saying my funds are on hold until March2 nd and I have bills to pay so I mobile deposited it thru my wells Fargo account so I can get my money right away and went to the chase branch first thing in the morning and asked them to cancel that mobile deposit and they were rude and told me no. So chase ended up releasing my money on that Tuesday and then all odd a sudden put a hold back on the funds and made me 2881.00 in the negative even tho they had already got paid for that check and released it again on March 2nd and now my direct deposit went to chase and they have been holding my direct deposit for 4 days now and that’s against the law. And thru still have my account restricted. And this is causing health issues and hardship. And I waited on hold to talk to someone in the special department and they were rude and told me to bring a letter into chase saying that I didn’t spend the money at wells Fargo and they will release my money as soon add they get a Letter from wells Fargo. Then the person on the phone got really rude and said that he is going to reject my direct deposit and told me that he hopes I learn a lesson from this. First of all if chase would’ve told me that thru were going to put a hooks until March 2nd I would’ve never deposited that check.. Which the manager was yelling at me and accusing me of spending the money out of my wells Fargo account which I never did and it was not my intention of doing that. Wells Fargo reversed the deposit and paid chase. So they have all of my money and won’t give it to me. I am fooling a complaint with the consumer Financial Protection Bureau and contacting a attorney. No one will help me get my money and chase is holding my money making interest on it. And if you read the reviews for the Mae Anne branch in Reno Nv. The bankers there are doing this to a lot of people. Just know that I am going to do every thing I can to report this bank because its against the law to be holding my direct deposit for 4 days. And getting hung up on when I am trying to get help. The customer service that I call before I get transferred to the special department that restricted my account says that is wrong the way I am getting treated and they are putting in tickets to help hey my money released. This bank is the worse bank I have ever had. They are worse then wells Fargo and that is pretty bad.. Crooks!

  • Terry Chambers says:

I need to find out why a branch manager would stall the sending of a large wire transfer which as of tomorrow will be 34 calendar days. On the 32 day he finally agreed to do the transfer this was 2/25//22. After calling this manager on the morning of the 26 th it turns out that he said he had given the task to a teller and the teller ( his words ) the teller had made a silly mistake and it had to be redone . I asked him since it was his mistake I expected him to do it before he left and his words were they closed at noon and it could wait till Monday morning my response was I think a little overtime was warranted,,all he said was I’ll do it Monday glad you understand. Well I don’t understand he kept me the recipient of the transfer and the sender both without any way to access or money .Now you tell me if I’m out of bounds but I want him fired not demoted, fired. Now everyone may say that’s a little harsh , I say no it isn’t see we are talking about a transfer in the line of $274,546.00 . I would appreciate some one from corporate office calling me so we can have a face to face.

I forgot to mention that I had already purchased checks. Never even used one. What a waste.

  • Sylvia K. Henry says:

I wish I had looked at these comments (below) before I opened up my Chase account in January. Because I transferred $13000 from my Ally Bank Account, my account was closed today. This means that even if I reopened my account (different account number) at Chase I wouldn’t get my automatic Social Security deposits for 2 months. I am 75 years old and depend on my SSI payments. When I opened my account no one told me that I shouldn’t deposit large sums of money in my account. I wonder if Gordon Smith has that problem. I am really disappointed with Chase and won’t bank there again.

  • Donna Hale says:

Ditto @Bil Kleiman. There was a charge in my Chase Checking account on January 4, 2022 for $14.63. I didn’t see the charge until I went into my account and saw a credit for the same amount on January 14. I called Chase several times regarding the charge and was offered no assistance whatsoever. Worse they couldn’t tell me what company or where did the charge and credit come from. I looked up the item, its was a dog training collar. I don’t have a dog, have never had a dog, I’m not a dog person and I don’t have friends or family members who have dogs. Even still no help. Saturday I went to Chase bank and requested a new card which was the only remedy offered for my situation.

  • Philip Danna says:

Jamie Dimon l see you on Fox Business, Newsmax etc. Why they call on you for expert advice and opinions is beyond me . Chase “ SUCKS “ ! We have five banks we do business with . We wanted to consolidate and we were thinking about putting most of it in Chase ( Branch is so convenient ) Now after the crap we are going through just to change a name on a trust account we can’t get out of Chase fast enough. We went in over a week ago with all the legal documents and a lawyer. The said no problem, take couple of hours . No way ! They sent all to their legal department ( whom you can’t call, cannot communicate with ) and legal takes a day to tell you everything is corrupted. The branch manager says never had this problem before . Five times they wait a day to tell you it’s all corrupted. We went down today and complained, filed a grievance and we still haven’t heard a thing . Our trust is frozen , nothing can go in , nothing can go out ! We cannot have any communication with legal and apparently Chase cannot communicate with legal . ( Covid , the excuse they use for everything . Now the Chase person is off tomorrow, it’s the weekend and the Banks is closed on Monday . So what is the advice from this very caring, concerned Bank . “ Come back in four days and we will try again . Chase did you ever hear the definition of total ineptitude and stupidity. Well it’s doing the same thing over and over again hoping for a different outcome !
Cannot wait to get this resolved and get as far from Chase Bank as possible

  • Jo says:

I just received a southwest/ chase card a month ago and I think I made have made a mistake. First, I only had the card for one month. How do you charge an annual fee when the card. has only been in my possession for one month. I called customer service Terrible service! They were not able to answer my question. What I was told by chase customer services is that is the way they do things. I referred back to the paper work that clearly state annual fee( I haven’t reach my annual day). I asked to speak to a manager. I was put on hold. I waited and waited but know one ever got back to me. I no longer wish to do business with this company. This one card I can do without.

I use to refer people to chase but after they did this to my household I will never think of sending anyone else to chase

    Good evening
My name is Natasha suber. I wanted to reach out to you for help please. Your company closed my acct and I had $3350.00 left in my acct . I have been getting the runaround since Dec 22nd about to to retrieve my funds with no help from any of your employees. If you look up my acct: 000000787816062 you can see that the acct was closed and had a balance. I don’t owe your company anything at all and I had to file two claims since someone tried to open an acct in my name in 2017/2020. I went to the branch and the guy confirmed that I was mailed out a check on the 22nd but now I’m on the phone with Ruth and she said my funds are being held. I don’t know why and she doesn’t seem to know what’s going on either. That money that your company is holding is my rent money and bills for January and February. I don’t know what I’m going to do … as you can see the check came from your company and through the texas rental assistance program that helped me out. Please help me in any way possible. I really need my money so me and my kids will be able to keep our house. My phone number is 469-719-2609. Please reach out ASAP

    Best Regards
    Natasha E Suber

You do realize that this is a public forum of comments, and you not only gave out your personal phone number for anyone on the internet to contact you, but you also provided your closed bank account which allows for other nefarious people to use and/or to attempt to collect that money instead of you. This type of comment would be better sent privately to protect your information, especially because you used your full name.

Chase needs to speed up their response to cyber crime. Its a new world out there post pandemic online with domestic and international cyber criminality ramping up exponentially. There needs to be a sea change around time sensative criteria to deal with suspected cyber criminals. A separate path from your garden variety reputable merchant transaction disputes, that can take weeks and months to resolve. Seems to me, given advances in AI, that Cyber criminal merchants should be identified in a matter of minutes or seconds not weeks or months. And considering today’s competitve online sales context, private sector rapid response is needed to ID cyber criminals well beyond what law enforcement is capable of achieving today—though private-gov’t cooperation is certainly warranted as well.

This evening I spent one hour trying to get to my checking accounts. Then I am told that I had over $5,000 in disbursements with no data for Account Activity. This is alarming and has caused me to question the confidence I have had in your operation now for many years.
