Breyers was incorporated by William A. Breyer in 1866 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Within a few days, its ice cream got popular and was called the best one in Philadelphia. In 1896, its first wholesale manufacturing plant was launched. Henry Breyer started the business in 1908. In 1926, this company was purchased by the National Dairy Products Corporation (NDPC). National Dairy renamed it to Kraftco in 1969 and Kraft in 1975. A few years later in 1993, Breyers Ice Cream was purchased by Unilever, from Kraft.
