Mark J. Bissell
In 1876, Melville R. BISSELL and his wife, Anna had a small crockery shop in Michigan. They used to clean the dust from the carpet of the shop every day. Tired of it, Melville invented a unique carpet sweeper and patented it, and that is when BISSELL was incorporated. In 1890s BISSELL got a lot of attention by the commoners when this company got the orders by its biggest fan in Queen Victoria, to clean the palace. In 1956, manual carpet shampoo was launched. It made the practice of scrubbing carpets on hands and knees obsolete. It is headquartered in Walker, Michigan, USA.
