It was founded in 1977 by Dane Miller, Niles Noblitt, Ray Harroff and Jerry Ferguson. After few years of successful proceeding it was acquired by a consortium of private equity firm. The firm consisted of Blackstone group, Kohiberg Kravis Roberts, TPG capital, Goldman Sachs. In 2014, it was acquired by Zimmer holdings.
The company manufactures orthopaedic surgery products like hips, shoulders, knees, fixation devices and other orthopaedic support devices. The company also produces spinal implants, dental implants and other operating instruments. It also produces craniomaxillofacial fixation instruments, LactoSorb – a fixation system that is made for guided bone regeneration
It began manufacturing crania plates in 1993. It also produces titanium plates, screws for crania fixation. Apart from this the company manufactures instruments for hard tissue replacements.
